KlappentextIndividuals with renal disease require continuing support and care throughout their lives from renal nurses and other members of the inter-professional renal team.
Advanced Renal Care is for all those who work in nephrology, dialysis and transplantation as it addresses current challenges in caring for those with renal failure, and examines recent trends and likely future developments. The book also explores key issues in staff recruitment and development. It goes beyond the basic texts on renal care by discussing topical issues such as anaemia management, care of older people on dialysis, diabetes and renal failure, infection control and sexual dysfunction in renal disease.
Nicola Thomas has been a renal nurse for over 20 years. She has clinical experience in nephrology, haemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis and has taught diploma and degree level renal courses at City University for over ten years. She is currently undertaking a PhD and exploring the ways in which the progression of diabetic nephropathy can be slowed through patient-centred education. In 2001 she was President of the European Dialysis and Transplant Nurses Association / European Renal Care Association (EDTNA/ERCA) and is now Chair of the EDTNA/ERCA Education Board.
