After back-up dancing for the most famous mice in the world at Tokyo Disneyland, Keilani Akoi Clark searched for ways to deliver that kind of magic in her own way to the children of the Pacific. As a kid, she performed at the Polynesian Cultural Center alongside her best friend, Nadia Le'i Tagaloa. The two lifelong friends who met at Kamehameha Preschool on the North Shore of O'ahu, teamed up together as an author and illustrator duo to bring you Kalei's May Day in Hawai'i Nei. Our stories and illustrations are created to increase representation of Pacific Islanders in literature and media. From the help of professional cultural consultants to the support of our family, friends, and communities, it truly has taken a village. And we hope to continue to make that village proud.
