Autor

Michel Pastoureau ist seit 1983 Directeur d'études an der École pratique des hautes études, Abteilung IV (Lehrstuhl für Geschichte der abendländischen Symbolik) sowie Directeur d'études an der École des hautes études en sciences sociales (Lehrstuhl für Symbolgeschichte der europäischen Gesellschaften) in Paris. Der Mediävist forscht und lehrt vor allem auf den Gebieten der Heraldik, der mittelalterlichen Bestiarien und Zoologie und der Kulturgeschichte der Farben. Für seine zahlreichen Publikationen erhielt er 1996 die Ehrendoktorwürde der Universität Lausanne und 2010 gewann er den Prix Médicis in der Kategorie Essay.
