Autor

Shehan Karunatilaka wurde 1975 in Galle im Süden Sri Lankas geboren. Aufgewachsen in Colombo, wo er heute wieder lebt, studierte er in Neuseeland und lebte und arbeitete in London, Amsterdam und Singapur. 2010 erschien sein Debütroman Chinaman, für den er u.a. mit dem Commonwealth Prize ausgezeichnet wurde. Außerdem schreibt er Rocksongs, Drehbücher und Reiseliteratur und veröffentlichte in verschiedenen internationalen Medien wie The Guardian, Newsweek, Rolling Stone, GQ und National Geographic. Er zählt zu den wichtigsten literarischen Stimmen Sri Lankas. Die sieben Monde des Maali Almeida ist sein lang erwarteter zweiter Roman, der 2022 mit dem Booker Prize ausgezeichnet wurde.Hannes Meyer, geboren 1982, übertrug u. a. Bücher von Tommy Orange, Phil Klay, Chanel Miller und Hernan Diaz ins Deutsche. Für seine Übersetzung von Anuk Arudpragagasams Die Geschichte einer kurzen Ehe war er für den Internationalen Literaturpreis nominiert.
