Childhood is receiving increasing attention in historical research. So far, the Bohemian lands and Slovakia have not been a major focus in this field. While childhoods there were certainly not fundamentally different from those in Western Europe, it can be assumed that the many historic transformations and the diverse social, political, and cultural tensions within these countries produced experiences and ideas of childhood specific to these regions.
