To address directly one of the editorialboardqueries, thisisnotintendedtobeabookaboutthepharmacology ofpain. Thatsaid, tomostpharmacologists, painisthemostobviousindicationfor aroleorsensorynervesindisease. Webelievethatthelessonslearntfromthestudy ofneuropathicpainwillbeinvaluableforresearchersintheothertherapeuticareas covered inthisvolume. Sincemostinterest hasfocusedontheroleofsensory nervesinneuropathicpain, wehaveaddedanumberofchaptersdevotedtothis subject.
