Norbert Schneider ist emeritierter Professor für Kunstgeschichte an der Universität Karlsruhe. Zu seinen Arbeitsgebieten zählen die Kunstgeschichte des Mittelalters und der Frühen Neuzeit - hier besonders die Geschichte der Malereigattungen -, die kunstwissenschaftliche Methodologie und Probleme der Philosophiegeschichte.
