This edited volume combines the contributions of participants to the interdisciplinary workshop Medieval mining methods in historical and archaeological sources , which was funded by the research division on mining history of the Deutsches Bergbau-Museum in Bochum and took place in December 2016 in Herne. The research projects represented here discuss the gains, risks and hurdles of interdisciplinary work in the study of mining history. Colleagues from the fields of building studies, mining archaeology, art history, economics, heritage management, legal history, archaeometallurgy and mining history, as well as practitioners working in metal casting and stone masonry are represented and illustrate the many disciplinary connections.
