Kritik
From the reviews:

"This book presents a comprehensive overview of mathematical and numerical ocean circulation modeling and focuses as such on the current state of the art of the discipline as well as on aspects concerning the historical development of the subject ... . The book addresses a broad audience interested in large-scale oceanic and marine circulations and their variability ... ." (Nina Kirchner, Zentralblatt MATH, Vol. 1181, 2010)

"For those who want to understand or extend the ideas leading to our present understanding of ocean circulation and the equations that encapsulate it, this book is truly enjoyable reading. There are not many recent books where the connection from modern modeling to the intellectual quest of the last century to understand the oceans is so clearly made." (Baylor Fox-Kemper, Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society, June, 2011)
