Prof Virendra S. Bisaria, a PhD from Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, New Delhi, was till 2018 a professor of biochemical engineering at the Department of Biochemical Engineering and Biotechnology, IIT Delhi where he worked for about 42 years. He has extensive experience of working on different aspects of cellulosic biorefinery. He was a post-doc at ETH-Zurich (Switzerland), University of Minnesota (USA), and Cambridge University (UK). He was also a visiting professor at International Centre of Biotechnology, Osaka University, Osaka and at Department of Chemical Science and Engineering, Kobe University, Kobe, Japan. He has published more than 110 research papers in peer-reviewed international journals and about 20 book chapters. He along with Prof A. Kondo of Kobe University has edited a book "Bioprocessing of Renewable Resources to Commodity Bioproducts", which was published by Wiley in 2014. His awards include the Research Exchange Award from the Korean Society for Biotechnology and Bioengineering. He is an editor of the Journal of Bioscience and Bioengineering and serves on the editorial board of Process Biochemistry. He is currently an Adjunct Professor at Regional Centre for Biotechnology, Faridabad, India and a vice-president of Asian Federation of Biotechnology.
