Grid-Forming Converters: Principles, Control, and Applications in Modern Power Systems is a pioneering guidebook to this state-of-the-art technology and its potential in enabling more-electronics grids and deep renewable integration for the energy systems of the future. Beginning with a clear explanation of the challenges presented for the standard synchronous generator or grid-tied converters by fossil-fuel phase-out and renewable integration, this book goes on to explain the fundamental concepts of grid-forming converters. Having established a solid foundational understanding the reader will learn practical techniques for implementation including design, control, analysis, and optimization. Finally, readers tackle case studies and example applications from energy storage to electric vehicles. From several of the foremost experts and educators in energy systems and power electronics, Grid-Forming Converters is an essential tool for students, professors and engineers working to make renewable-based grids a reality.mehr

Autor

Jingyang Fang is currently a full Professor in the School of Control Science and Engineering at Shangdong University, China. Prof. Fang has been working on grid-tied converters for more than a decade: he was the first person to use group theory to investigate the symmetries of power electronics and his inventions include the lattice converter, fractal converter, several virtual inertia control schemes, and 3 novel trap filters. He has authored/ coauthored 40 IEEE Transaction papers, and a book, which received over 2,700 citations according to Google Scholar. He has 2 licensed patents, transferred to MR and Evercomm respectively. He led 6 projects as a Principal Investigator, with total research funding exceeding 1000,000 EURs. He has received the Humboldt Research Fellowship, two IEEE Prize Paper Awards, one Best Presenter Award, and the IEEE JESTPE Star Reviewer Award, and is among the World's Top 2% Highly Cited Scientists ranked by Stanford University.
