The socialist discourse of world heritage was re-evaluated during perestroika and re-integrated as UNESCO World Heritage in a new state and international order in the 1990s.

Dr Corinne Geering is a postdoctoral researcher at the Leibniz Institute for the History and Culture of Eastern Europe (GWZO) in Leipzig. She completed her PhD in 2018 at the University of Giessen.mehr
