Carlos Nevarez is Chair of Graduate and Professional Studies in Education and Professor of the Doctorate in Educational Leadership at California State University, Sacramento. J. Luke Wood is Distinguished Professor of Education and Chief Diversity Officer at San Diego State University. Nevarez and Wood each received their Ph.D. in educational leadership and policy studies from Arizona State University.
