Volume III/1 of the edition of the minutes of the Cisleithanian Council of Ministers covers the period from late November 1871 to late April 1872, the first deciding months of Adolph Auersperg's government. (German-) centralist and constitutional, it ended the past federalist constitutional experiments and shaped a politically stable liberal era until 1879. The first and most important task of this new government was the dissolution of the state parliaments and the holding of new elections. This was intended to pave the way for direct Reichsrat elections in order to put an end to the boycott of the central parliament by the state parliaments. The Bohemian state elections at the end of April 1872, which mark the end of this volume, were an essential key to this. Other central topics in this volume are the preparations for the Vienna World Exhibition in 1873, as well as numerous legal matters from the areas of economics, law, administration and social policy. There are also various railway projects. In contrast to the two previous volumes, the 72 protocols of the Council of Ministers in this volume have been preserved almost completely. The protocols provide historical research with important files in scientifically prepared form. They contain valuable background knowledge on decisive years in the history of Austria and its neighboring countries.mehr
