A serial killer is on the loose in Salzburg, and Quentin Neuner and his team have their hands full tracking him down. All victims are found in the vicinity of a medical congress. Quentin Neuner is literally looking for the needle in the haystack. Basically, every one of the 80 participants of the congress is a potential suspect. The victims died of multiple organ failure, even though they were all in excellent health and post mortem were stabbed with hatpins. This, and a hand-knitted sock draped on the victim's feet, leave the police speechless. The investigation proves to be laborious and repeatedly leads to dead ends. Many of the congress participants are suspicious and conceal basic facts. Unfortunately, they all have watertight alibis. The killer has no scruples to kill in broad daylight, and when a third victim is found near a lake, the pressure from the press and Quentin's boss becomes unbearable. Quentin is a meticulous worker and is appreciated by his staff. He relies on good teamwork and is not sparing with praise. When he gets 'grumpy' every now and then, he lets himself be lured out of his cave by delicious tasting cinnamon buns. The inspector and his colleagues work professionally hand in hand. Nothing seems as it is in this crime novel. The mix between a compelling case and the cosy, pleasant Salzburg atmosphere with likeable investigators and a surprising outcome will encourage the reader to guess along - although the guessing will not be very promisingâ¦!mehr
