His research centers on the theory and practice of photographic media, digitality, and media environments. Florian Krautkrämer lehrt und forscht an der Hochschule für Gestaltung und Kunst in Luzern zu den Veränderungen im Dokumentar- und Amateurfilm, die sich durch neue Entwicklungen in Produktion und Vertrieb ergeben haben. Er hat über das Schreiben im Film promoviert und war Gastprofessor für Filmwissenschaft an der Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz.
